Set up in 2015, Magpie Contemporary Art is run by Nina Jex, who – like the magpie in folklore – has an eye for spotting desirable pieces!  Nina comes from an artistic family and has always had a passion for visiting galleries and open studios; collecting things that are handmade, unusual and have a story to tell; and displaying them in ways that enhance their aesthetic beauty.  A keen art collector herself, Nina believes that art is not a luxury, but that having beautiful artwork and handmade objects in your surroundings can really elevate your everyday life.

I come from an artistic family and have always had a passion for visiting galleries and open studios; collecting things that are handmade, unusual and have a story to tell; and displaying them in ways that enhance their aesthetic beauty.  I’m a keen art collector myself and I strongly believe that having beautiful artwork and handmade objects around you can really elevate your everyday life. I love working with artists and makers, bringing their work to new audiences and sharing the joy of creativity whether through exhibtions, workshops or art escapes.
